Why did Apple change the laptop lines?

Here are my thoughts on why Apple may have changed up their notebook lines.

What did they change:

During the WWDC conference they announcened that the aluminum MacBook would now be called a MacBookPro. This is because they changed the specs inside of it to mathc the specs of the other MacBookPro's. Leaving the MacBook White as the only MacBook. This did get upgraded but not as much.

Why they may have done this:

Apple is a smart company and wouldn't just let go of the name MacBook after all these years. So by moving the aluminum MacBook out they can now put a new product that they may make into its slot. This new product may be a much hoped for netbook. There have been a lot of rumers going around that Apple is ordering a lot of the same touch screens that are on the IPhone and IPod Touch but 10 inches. This would make for a nice small computer with a touch screen. It would fit perfectly into the name MacBook because it would be the smallest Apple notebook. What about the MacBook White? The MacBook White my be retired or they may bring back the same one but in black and have those two also under the name MacBook. These two computers could also take the place of the MacBook just like they did before the aluminum ones and there could be no netbook.

Why this may not be possible:

This may not be possible. This is because of the quality computers Apple makes. The problem is that with all that Apple includes in their compter they have to be priced in the upper price range. For this reason it may be hard to make a netbook because netbooks are normaly priced on the lower end. With this if Apple were to make a netbook it may not be priced as low as we would expect a netbook to be. That is why this may not be possible.

Why do you think they may have changed the computer line up?

The IPhone 3GS

The IPhone 3GS is the next companion to the IPhone line up. To many people the IPhone has changed the way people think of their phones. Here are my thoughts on the new IPhone and it's specs.

My thoughts:

First of all I would love to have the IPhone. Ever since the first IPhone came out I have been greatly impressed with the newer software and hardware they have come out with. I own an IPod Touch 2G and love it but would still love to have the IPhone.

With the IPhone 3GS that was announced on June 8 at WWDC I was a little let down. This is because I was really hoping to see a new design or just little change on the outside but none was done. The only thing that was changed on the hardware was the camera which went from a 2 megapixel to a 3 megapixel but other than that nothing new. There were many things inside of the device that were changed though. These are what add the S at the end of the name now. The s stands for speed. The biggest part of the new IPhone. Apple is claiming that the IPhone 3GS will now be able to load a web page in half the time that it would take an IPhone 3G. My over all though on the new IPhone 3GS is that if you already have the IPhone 3G I see no need to upgrade.

The Specs:

The specs inside of the IPhone 3G have changed to make the new IPhone 3GS. As I said earlier there is now a 3 megapixel camera inside. It still has the same amazing 3.5 inch touch screen on the front. The battery has been upgraded as well. You can now have up to 12 hours of talk time on 2G and up to 5 hours on 3G. The stand by time is still 300 hours. The ram inside the device was also updated. Along with that the hard drive was upgraded. You can now get either a black or white IPhone with either a 16 gigabyte hard drive or a 32 gigabyte hard drive. The software it will be running is IPhone O.S 3.0. IPhone OS 3.0 will also be available for older IPhone models and IPod Touches on June 15. The IPhone 3GS will have many new features. One of these new features is that it will now be able to take video. The device will also now have speech command. Apple's spotlight search engine on all their Macs will now be integrated into the IPhone. Another feature that will be available with the new IPhone is the ability to tether. Those are just a few of the many new features that will be available on the new IPhone 3GS. Which will be released on June 19.

The Pricing:

IPhone 3G 8GB: $99 (black)

IPhone 3GS 16GB: $199 (black or white)

IPhone 3GS 32GB: $299 (black or white)

An update of Apple's notebook lines.

Here is a breakdown of the new MacBookPro and all the other MacBook lines.

There is only one MacBook now. that is the white plastic polycarbonate version. This has a 13 inch screen and now comes standard with a back lit keyboard. The price is still the same which is $999.

The MacBook Pro line has been updated. There are now three different models of the MacBookPro. The first one is the 17 inch which has just gotten spec updates which can be found at apple.com. The second MacBookPro is the 15 inch which just like the 17 inch just got spec updates which can be found at apple.com. There is now a third MacBookPro. This one has a 13 inch screen. This is what use to be the MacBook. This one got all the same specs as the other MacBookPro's. The MacBookPro's now all have an SD card slot instead of the express slot. The 13 inch MacBookPro was also given a SD card slot even though in the past this computer didn't have an express slot. The MacBookPro's were all given a price drop and now are starting at a price of just $1299.

The MacBook Air is a ultra thin and stylish computer but still does the job of a computer. This computer does lack many thing including a CD drive. This MacBook was given some great spec bumps including a 120 gigabyte hard drive or a 128 gigabyte solid state drive. The graphics card is now an NVIDIA GFORCE 9400M. It still has the same screen as the MacBook the 13.3 inch. The MacBook Air also had a price drop of around $700. The computer is now priced at $1499.

That is an update of all of Apple's notebook lines.
